The Motability Car Scheme can provide eligible people with a car; with adaptations to help you access and/or drive a standard car; or with a fully wheelchair accessible vehicle, allowing you to travel in your wheelchair or to easily transport your powerchair or scooter.

The Motability Car Scheme three or five-year lease includes extra peace of mind with worry-free servicing and repairs, breakdown cover, insurance and even a continuous mobility service (provided by Allied Mobility), which provides a replacement vehicle if yours is going to be off the road for an extended period of time.

Anyone receiving one of these benefits should be eligible to join the Motability Car Scheme:

  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA) – Higher Rate Mobility Component
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP) – Enhanced Rate Mobility Component
  • War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

Under the Motability Scheme, your mobility allowance will be transferred to Motability, to cover the cost of your lease payments. In many cases you will also make a one-off up-front contribution, called an Advance Payment, which will vary depending on the value of the vehicle and/or adaptations you choose.

Motability Approved Dealer

Mobility Solutions – through our sister company Allied Mobility – is a Motability Premier Partner and offers the widest choice of wheelchair accessible vehicles and car adaptations available on the Motability Scheme.

Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles

It’s important that you choose the right car to suit you and your family’s needs. That’s why we always offer a detailed vehicle demonstration, so carers can drive their preferred model and wheelchair users can check accessibility with their own wheelchair.

These free, no-obligation demonstrations are available either from Mobility Solutions’ Glasgow showroom or we can come to you at home – the choice is entirely yours.

Car Adaptations

Mobility Solutions offers a vast range of specialist hand controls and other car adaptations through the Motability Car Scheme. Many adaptations are available free of charge to Motability Scheme customers, where others are offered at discounted rates.

Car adaptations, including hand controls, are usually fitted when you take delivery of a new Motability Scheme Car. You can choose any of our specialist adaptations and we will arrange to fit these at your local dealer as soon as your new car is ready for you. If you’re buying an Allied Mobility wheelchair accessible vehicle, we’ll arrange to fit any additional adaptations at the factory, before your new wheelchair car is delivered direct to your door.
