This week marks the start of Carers Week, an annual week-long campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges faced by carers and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the country.
Carer Friendly Communities
This year the campaign runs from 8-14 June and focuses on building Carer Friendly Communities – communities that support carers and help them to look after their loved ones as best they can, while recognising that they’re also individuals with needs of their own.
Carer Positive
Carers Week is being celebrated with a wide range of activities and events throughout the UK. There are a number of events in the Glasgow area such as an information stall at the City of Glasgow College on 11th June. The College has begun its journey towards becoming an accredited ‘Carer Positive’ organisation, and their stall will provide more information on the face to face and online support group they are setting up as part of this.
