DisabledGo has launched a campaign to highlight the issues caused by inconsiderate parking next to dropped kerbs.
Serious issue
The #DontBlockTheDrop campaign has been launched because blocking dropped kerbs is a serious issue for disabled people and those with reduced mobility. Users of mobility scooters, powerchairs and other mobility aids often find difficulty in getting about because the safe areas to cross the road where the kerb is dropped are blocked by parked vehicles. The campaign encourages members of the public anywhere in the UK to get in touch if they have encountered a blocked dropped kerb.
The aim is to get at least 1,000 examples of motorists blocking dropped kerbs within eight weeks. Once this target is hit, DisabledGo will use the information to highlight the issue to police and parking enforcement teams.

If you come across a blocked dropped kerb and want to get involved all you need to do is email dontblockthedrop@disabledgo.com, or comment on DisabledGo’s Facebook or Twitter. Let them know where and when you came across the obstruction, and take a photo if you can.
