A Russian non-profit organisation has come up with an innovative and powerful new way to discourage ignorant drivers from parking in disabled parking spaces.
Amazing Technology
Around 30% of able drivers in Russia have been found to park in designated disabled spaces, making going about day-to-day life incredibly difficult for the people who really need the spaces. Dislife hopes to reduce that percentage using some amazing technology which was recently trialled in shopping centres in Moscow.
More Than A Sign
Using projectors installed in the spaces, a hologram of a real disabled person appears when a non-disabled driver attempts to park in the space. The holograms are created using a thin and invisible-to-the-eye air screen saturated with water.
A special camera trained on the spot verifies whether an approaching car has a disabled sticker displayed on the windshield. If no sticker is detected, the hologram appears and speaks to the driver, telling them that they are “more than a sign” and that they need to find another space.
