Grants & Schemes: How the Motability Scheme Works

As a leading retailer of practical assistance for disabled and elderly folk in the UK, we are an approved dealer for the Motability Scheme for scooters and power chairs. Under this scheme, you can exchange your qualifying mobility allowance for a new car, a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV), mobility scooter or a powered wheelchair. It allows mobility-impaired folks more independence in life.

So, whether you’re looking for a mobility scooter or a power chair, as long as you receive a qualifying mobility allowance and have at least 12 months left, you can join the Motability Scheme!

We Help You Every Step of the Way!

We aim to make the process of buying a mobility aid for yourself as hassle-free as we can! Along with free home delivery, we also offer assembly and one-year home warranty, parts & labour and customer support on all mobility scooters sold online and in-store at our mobility superstores. You can read all about it in our guide to Free Home Demo.

What Is The Motability Scheme?

You will also be advised and supported throughout the application process by one of our trained and experienced Mobility Advisors. The Motability Scheme can provide eligible people an easy way to convert their mobility allowance to a hassle-free lease on one of the mobility aids below. You can join the scheme to fund:

  • a new car,
  • car adaptations,
  • wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV),
  • mobility scooter,
  • or a powered wheelchair

Powered wheelchair or scooter are offered on a three-year lease term. Products leased through the scheme come with a worry-free support package, including ongoing maintenance, repair and insurance cover. At the end of the term, you can lease a brand new product.

While Mobility Solutions only offer a mobility scooter or a powered wheelchair, you can take a look at a wide range of wheelchair accessible cars and MPVs available on the Motability Scheme through our sister brand, Allied Mobility.
