There are lots of different, important issues addressed through this blog and it even categorises various disabilities so you can learn about what’s going on, from tales from those with various conditions to new technology and stories that may anger you. Although this blog may be more suited to America than the UK, many extremely important topics are covered that may be of interest to a vast amount of people, such as education, living and money.
The Guardian – Disabled Society Section
A well known British newspaper, but did you know that just like the sports and business sections, they also have a disability section exploring the current affairs affecting disabled people. Many stories from guest bloggers make an appearance on how they are finding their way through life with a disability or how they find caring for a vulnerable person. The section tackles stories from overseas as well as employment experiences and awareness campaigns.
Unpacking Disability with Meriah Nichols
Meriah Nichols is a mother to three children, one with Downs Syndrome and she herself is deaf. She shares her ideas, opinions and information on disability in society and has an informal approach to disabled matters. She posts regularly about current affairs or first-hand experiences and her website is packed with resources for disabled people and their families. She posts regular reviews of items and books and even hosts a podcast. Expect the unexpected with this one, she chats about all things’ disability, from travel, education, parenting and employment.
URevolution – Diversity & Inclusion
The online lifestyle magazine describes itself as “diversity and inclusion magazine and lifestyle brand of the future: where body positivity includes our medical conditions, neuro-diversity, and ‘mismatched’ bodies”. Packed with edgy stories about various awkward instances, conditions and experiences, URevolution hosts a fresh take on disabilities, illnesses and embarrassing bodies where there’s definitely at least one story in there that you can relate to. They also open up their blog to anyone who has a chronic illness or disability and has a story to tell.
Martyn Sibley’s Blog
Martin is your regular guy who uses a wheelchair due to having Spinal Muscular Atrophy. He’s decided after achieving many professional and personal goals in his life, such as gaining a degree in Economics and a Masters in Marketing and featuring on the BBC, that he would like to empower other disabled and non-disabled people through his website, book and magazine. He talks about his travels, his life, current affairs and so much more.
