Laura McCartney and her husband Colin needed a specialised vehicle to help get their two-year-old son Tom out and about with his wheelchair. Having had no experience of wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs) before, they came to Mobility Solutions for help.
Widest Range
Laura explains: “We had looked online for information and found that Mobility Solutions was our most local supplier. They also had the widest range of cars and the most in-depth information about them on their website which we found really helpful.”
At Mobility Solutions we understand that everyone’s needs are different when it comes to WAVs. There are many different options and features available which is why we recommend coming in for a demo where one of our experts can provide advice on everything from suitability to pricing and funding options.
Relaxed and Informal
Laura comments: “We came in to find out more about the cars available and it was great. We met with Philip and he was very down-to-earth and knowledgeable. We really appreciated how relaxed and informal he made the whole process; it was nice to have someone helping us find the right solution rather than giving us a hard sell, considering the circumstances.
“We didn’t know anything about wheelchair accessible vehicles when we came to Mobility Solutions and Philip was very patient and explained everything really clearly, so we were confident that we made the right choice with the Kangoo.”
Huge Difference
Having their Renault Kangoo has made a huge difference to the McCartneys’ lives. Before, Laura could only manage to take Tom out on two journeys a day because lifting him was putting a strain on her back injury. Now that they have a vehicle with an easy-to-use lightweight ramp, getting Tom in and out is a lot easier.
Laura continues: “Due to hurting my back, I could only manage to take Tom out a maximum of twice a day which would then leave me out of action the following day which was not ideal. Getting him into and out of our new car is so much easier and means I feel safe in making more than two trips a day.
“Tom gets really excited every time he knows we’re going on a trip and really enjoys being able to see out of it from his seat. He loves it so much that ‘car’ is one of the first words he’s picked up in sign language!”
